The three literary pieces i have chosen are "the road not taken" " if the world were crazy" and "captured by the feministas." I thought long and hard about my choices only beacuse i feel like every literary piece we've read so far has been so important. I feel that the class was really involved in everything we did. I saw how some pieces of work affected my peers, and it was a good experience. Every poem had its different affect on each student.
In the road not taken Robert Frost expresses himself in a way that i can relate to. Making decisions is hard, making the right one is even harder. He compares choosing the right path to a road split in two. When i read it i feel very mellow and calm. It helps me to want to be more patient with my decisions.When making decisions you can only choose one, he says "and sorry i could not travel both" as if he is saying sorry i cant pick two decisions only one. Especially if its a decision that will affect the rest of your life, you want to put time and much thought in making the right one.
When i first read If the World Was Crazy by Shel Silverstein it made me reminise about being child and having a wild imagination. I think when you're young everything is so new to you and you dont know much about anything, and all you imagination can do is imagine. This poem in particular made me think outside the box. He says things out of the ordinary, which would make them carzy like "I'd fly through the ground and skip through the air." It made me wonder about the words we use to express ourselves, what if shoe really meant banana or orange juice meant soda.Who is to even say that everything we do is part of a"normal world."
Captured by Feministas was and awesome play i absolutely fell in love with the humor. What i love the most about it is that is what so realistic, these are real issues between men and women. And there are some men who are dogs! Like he explains himself when he says "as for the toilet-seat controversy, up or down who cares? I'll go outside. Who needs to use a toilet? I'm a dog. Theres always that one incident that a women goes through and she wishes all men were punished for the one mans mistake. We think "hell yea" torture that jerk! while reading it. One man needs to pay! Men go around with more than one woman and he is aplauded for it, but women must be faithful or we are looked down upon. This play made me laugh it off, i laughed all these dumb issues off , these dumb issues that we have with men that we can never sort out. Very humorous play, i wished it was longer.
These three pieces you can say im favoring them. They stood out to me like a sore thumb. I have a special place for them in my thoughts. And they have had great impact on my life and in my imagiantion.
